Women's team post impressive away victory

The Cougars women’s team posted a confident 54 – 41 point victory against rival side Holbrook last Monday (December 2).
The six-player squad coupled strong outside shooting with an aggressive full court press to capture an early lead.
The taller Holbrook side put up a stoic performance, overloading the high-post and rebounding strongly, but the Cougars held on to claim their first victory of the season.
Highlight performances included development squad newcomer Janice Pang, who posted an impressive eight-points in her debut match.
Inside players Ella Sherman, Aude Eberlin and Emelie Swerre showed dogged determination in keeping Holbrook’s 6’ 3” centre out of the paint.
Point guard Dora Keresztes bravely played on after taking a forcible hit to the jaw in the first half, while Alice Johnson was on target scoring 10 points against the tall zone.
Coach Matt Kelly said: “The girls should all feel very proud of last week’s game. It was a great team performance and a well deserved win”.
However, the ladies will face a sterner test in January, with a home game against the infamously physical Crawley Lightning. Please come along to show them your support or if you are interested in playing for the team email: info@brightoncougars.com
