Friday 6th Jan 2018, the first home game for the U13 team.  Great support from parents and the whole squad turning up to cheer their teammates along. Cougars start with Jude, Freyr, Seb, Nils and Paul on court and the first point of the match goes to the home side. They take the first quarter 14-8.

2nd quater...

James starts after the break with a great 2 points. 16-8

Jude dribbles through to make it 18-8 making the difference since he came on. 

Freyr breaks clear with a good dribble and is fouled. Misses the first free throw but centers the second. Ruled as a fault therefore No points! Cougars are missing the chances to extend their lead. 

HH net for two points. Another chance goes for cougars with HH taking advantage and netting a two pointer. 18-14! 

Jude nets for 2 points... showing his class in front of the net. Freyr nets for two... the boys seems to have picked up the scoring! 22-14. Guys words of wisdom might just be starting to take effect. 

After a loose pass by Seb HH are on the attack. Seb makes amends with a good block and starts an attack that leads to an foul. This leads to 2 free throws. Can Jude execute these..... 1 straight in! Boom! 2nd one misses. 23-14 cougars

HH straight back with two points. Cougars respond with Jude! 25-16. Jude making the difference! 

24 is fouled. Guys calls a time out before the free throw! The boys are back on with 24 ready to take his free throws. Can he drop these..... misses both. Unlucky! 

A foul at the other end gives HH two free throws.... they miss both. Still 25-16 cougars.

Good work from Jude gives 24 an easy two points. 

Game has gone a little scrappy both sides making  some mistakes. HH net two points with a close shot. 27-18

Cougars with some good pressure and 13 getting a good basket. 29-18 

Cougars are definitely in control but need to be more clinical. 

Tom is fouled creating an attack but cougars don’t take advantage of the opportunity.

Defence defence hustle hustle rings out front the side lines as 24 makes a great run and 2 points. 29-18

The fans are making themselves heard..... let’s go cougars let’s go let’s go cougars let’s go. 2nd quarter finishes 29-18

 

3rd quarter...

Seb breaks through but misses the shot. Unlucky after some good work.

Best dribble of the match so far by Freyr but Paul just misses the net. Great move though.

Freya with a good life again and gets fouled. Can he down the free throws. Misses the first bit gets the 2nd. 30-18

Jude breaks in and gets his 2 points.... his presence and skills will be missed when he 

Moves to the Bahamas. Rumour has it he has offered to host the end of season trip next year :) 34-18

Cougars have another chance to extend their lead  but miss an open net. HH respond with 2 points before 24 get two points back for the cougars with a fine move. 36-20

21 finishes of a good move with 2 points.... looks like some of that Christmas Turkey is finally being burnt off by the cougars.

It’s raining points for either side with end to end moves 40-22 

Freyr nets from far out but just inside the 3 point line. Good shot! 44-22

Time out with the cougars making their ability count. Can they extend their lead or are HH Going to make a comeback. 

Games restarted with Cougars making plays but can’t get a score. Guy is driving the boys on but is getting annoyed of some sloppy play. Can the boys respond?

Tom is fouled. Misses the first but nets the second! HH resound with 2 points. Tom is fouled again.... can he net both of these? Misses the first but gets the second. Booooooooom 44-24

4th quarter has started slow.... 1min in and no points either side! 

Hold that.... Tom with a great move for 2 points! 

HH with a good 2 points but that’s responded with 2 from no6 48-27

Great work by Freyr leading to a foul. Opportunity for cougars no24. Misses both chances. Another foul.. can seb convert these. Misses the first but nets the second. 

21 rolls one in for cougars 51-29

Guy making some chances with 3 mins to go. Has Jude’s cougars career come to and end with a win or will HH make a late comeback. 4 points from HH can they do this? 51-33! 

Jude isn’t having any of this... he makes it 53-33 to keep the 20 point gap! Freyr makes a good two points... and another quickly after from 16! Cougars extending the lead to 57-33. Looks like Jude can start thinking of the surf with the win looking likely. 

Match finishes 57-34! 

Well done to the boys... great game with some nice moves. Good luck to Jude from everyone, the club thanks him his contribution to the team this season so far and previous seasons.
