The Cougars under 16s raced into a 24-12 lead in the first quarter of the midweek clash with Haywards Heath Golden Eagles at Stringer.
But poor passing and ball handling led to multiple turnovers in the second quarter when the team suffered as the visitor' big man racked up a whole raft of points in the paint. The half ended with the home team marginally ahead with the scores 36-31.
The second half saw the Cougars wrest control back on the game. Despite not running the team's offence, they managed to maintain the lead scoring 19- 12 in the third quarter.
The final quarter saw the Cougars concentrate on looking after the ball and strong rebounding which led to the team outscoring the Eagles 25-16.
The final score was 76-63 to the Brighton team.
