Girls on Tour!

Following on from another very successful season where they reached the play-offs, the National League U14 Girls are now off on tour to Dorsten in Germany.
Through her work in her last job, Nicky Shaw was responsible for putting together youth teams to go over to Dorsten and also hosting them over in Crawley on alternate years. Not only basketball teams but football teams as well from Crawley. Dorsten is twinned with Crawley, and this trip is the latest in a series of exchanges arranged by Nicky under the Crawley Town Twinning banner, so for this trip (and this trip only!!) the girls will be playing as Crawley Cougars.
This year sees the trip, on the 27th to 30th May go to Germany. The team embark on a road trip to play in a tournament in Dorsten against teams from Wulfen Dorsten and the surrounding area. Final details are still to be arranged, but if previous years are an indication they can expect stiff opposition and good games.
In previous years the girls all camp down in the sports hall or gym however this year the girls will be staying in the local Youth Hostel, which should be more comfortable than on the floor of the gym as previous years have had to do. A day at the water park and a BBQ and pizzas are always on the menu so a good time is guaranteed to be had by all, and is a great way to bring down the curtain on a successful second season for the team.
We must thank Brighton Cougars and Crawley Town Twinning Association for very generous donations towards the costs of the minibus hire, travel costs and accommodation, they really made a big difference to the overall cost for each player.
